The structural complexity and multidisciplinarity of modern innovation design systems in mechanical engineering significantly limit the possibilities of classical analysis of their dynamics using theoretical models that describe self-organization processes and take the form of differential equations. For practical control of the dynamic characteristics of the design system, it is urgent to develop a model that is consistent with the fundamental theory but is not a direct derivative of the theory. Such models are commonly referred to as phenomenological. The article considers synergetic theory of system self-organization as a basis for macroscopic description of the innovation design system. This theory operates with the following categories: attracting attractor-goal, order parameter, and evolutionary equations. For a more rigorous representation of the model, the language of invariant manifold theory is used. Based on this, an algorithm has been developed that ensures adaptation of the design system on invariant manifolds and implements the principle of simultaneous design of both the system and the development of the design object. The obtained results were confirmed during the creation and industrial testing of a prototype digital planner for optimizing the design system architecture at the pace of project development.
